2026–27. Components are standard deviations from the average forward or defenceman, after small samples are pulled toward average. Goals value counts only the parts with a direct link to scoring. It rates how a player plays, and in our test it didn't predict results beyond expected goals, apart from the chemistry part. Full method.

The methodology requires 15 to 20 games to be accurate. Until a player has played that many this season, his rating leans on the league average for his position, so early numbers sit close to the middle and move as games come in.
