Egor Surin is a centre for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the KHL, and Nashville holds his NHL rights. The Predators took him 22nd overall in the first round of 2024. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, and he turned 20 not long ago (20.1 on the books).

Through 14 games this season he has five goals and five assists, 0.71 points a game. At the KHL's exchange rate to the NHL, that pace works out to about 45 points per 82 games. His age adds weight to the line: he is among the youngest regulars in the league, so the total reads better than it would from an older player.

We rank him fourth among prospects and put him in the Elite tier. The comparison group is players drafted from 2010 to 2017 with similar numbers. Of those, 90% became NHL regulars, 60% had first-line careers, and 56% turned into some of the league's best players. If he gets there, the projection is about 68 points a season at his peak.

Fourteen games is a short stretch, and the historical comparison does most of the work in that ranking. The sample behind it is a fair one, though, and the age is the part of his profile that is hardest to dismiss.
